'""Every day, 43 children are diagnosed with cancer"
- CureSearch Battling cancer and other life-threatening illnesses is a nightmare neither children nor their parents should have to experience. The goal of Memorial Children's Hospital of South Bend is to make coping with these conditions a little easier. From caring for infants born a couple months early to giving cancer patients life-saving surgery, Memorial provides quality patient care and a temporary home for both children and parents. As the only comprehensive children's hospital in the area, Memorial is understandably in need of space. This is where the Notre Dame Dance-A-Thon comes in.
Memorial's plan is to build a completely new Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and Pediatric Hematology Oncology Center. This state-of-the-art addition will undoubtedly lighten some of the burden of both battling and treating pediatric cancer and other childhood illnesses. For example, because Memorial receives patients from twenty different hospitals in the region, they occasionally run out of private rooms for children and their parents to stay. The new addition will solve this problem, providing all patients their own rooms, as well as personal rooms for parents who want to stay overnight. Memorial treats newborns, cancer patients, others in need every single day. This is your chance to help. Please donate to the cause and spread the word! Thank you for your generosity! |
